Understanding Coding and Marking Technologies

Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) Printer, Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) Printer, Thermal Transfer Overprinter (TTO), and Laser Printer One of the key components in the food, beverage, personal care, and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is the coding and marking aspect of it. Various regulations on product identification have been enacted allowing the coding and marking printer manufacturers to develop solutions and provide services that can cater to their customer’s coding and marking requirements.  This field (coding and marking) has been growing rapidly over the past decade. Different technologies have been introduced and claim expertise in certain areas for product identification. However, as technology advances in this industry, the capability to print on specific applications such as coding with real-time information, printing in a fast or high-speed environment, superior adhesion, and highest print quality to certain materials is now just a matter of printer choice. Long gone are the days whe

Comparison between TIJ and CIJ printers

Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) and   Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) printers   are two of the most commonly used inkjet printing technologies in the industry today. While they share some similarities, there are also notable differences between these two printing technologies that make them suitable for different applications. Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) Printers: TIJ printers use heat to vaporize the ink from the print head nozzle, creating a tiny bubble that propels the ink onto the substrate.  TIJ printers  are characterized by their high resolution and accuracy, making them ideal for printing high-quality text, barcodes, and graphics on a wide range of materials, including paper, plastics, and metals. They are also relatively compact and easy to integrate into existing production lines. In addition, TIJ printers use cartridges that are easy to replace, reducing the need for specialized training or expertise. Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) Printers: CIJ printers, on the other hand, use a continuous stream of ink t
